Beam Piper, and he wrote a series of books that began with Little Fuzzya tale of space-going humans who have to learn to live on a world with an adorably cute, yet sentient, species. Because if ever there were a template for how a classic novel ought to be “remade” — or “rebooted,” or whichever term you prefer — Fuzzy Nation should be the book you think of. I’m not sure I’d like to see too many writers getting into the habit of rebooting SF’s rich past — though given his oft-noted Heinlein influence, I’d be intrigued to see what Scalzi might do with Tunnel in the Sky — but when it’s done with as much respect, talent and passion as Fuzzy Nationthen we may well find ourselves with a whole new future classic in the making.

Some Useful Clarifications About Fuzzy Nation
I remember Little Fuzzy with delight from when it was new, and when I downloaded a Kindle app for my iPhone, a set of 32 works by H. Especially if the native sentient beings are not as cute as the fuzzies?

Where the novel goes depends upon whether Jack really is a good guy or not, a point that always seems debatable, which is why the use of an anti-hero as the main character is jonn stroke of genius. If it turns out the Fuzzies are sapient, not only will ZaraCorp potentially lose trillions, but Holloway himself could lose his one chance to retire a billionaire. Little Fuzzy is one of those books that Goodreads has been recommending to me since I joined, so it’s been going on for a while.

The motivations of the Fuzzies, for most of the book, is unclear, but they too have to learn the difference between what they think other people want and what they really want. My question is, is this a piggy-backing ripoff of your revamping groundwork that should be subject to boycott or just a ripoff of the public domain novel that should be subject to boycott?
