Pretty unique among wars in that almost all fights were between Space Marineswith few Guardsmen traitor or otherwise in sight.

Part 1 — perhaps describable as background fluff and imagery takes up the first pages and is a involving read, including the motivations of the major players. It describes the skirmishes, battles and final assault on the heavily protected Badab system as well as the machinations to a greater or lesser degree of the Inquisition, Wxr and most importantly the Space Marine Chapters themselves.

The Salamanders refused, while the Inquisition kept arguing with them, knowing they were bros with the Executioners and the nicest chapter around. They are talked about quite often in the Chronology.
And also the most famous appearances of a shit-ton of minor chapters that most people haven’t heard of, who will probably never appear again outside a few novel cameos and the Imperial Armour books.
And in bring us descriptions of several less-known Chapters, their history, psychology, traditions, famous campaigns and it shows, that not only SW, BA and BT are quite divergent from codex. I keep coming back to this book, there’s so much great stuff in there it’s hard not to. That’s all I can recall, other than their otherwise exemplary performance during the Badab War being tarnished when the Carcharodons turned Badab Primaris into a charcoal briquet, and the Exorcists ended up shooting down some Loyalist ships while preventing traitors from arjour in the confusion.

My only quibble is that I wish they had offered more information about the power armour suits illustrated in the Chapters section; there are a number of suits that I couldn’t readily identify by mark, and more details about these variant suits would have been appreciated.
