Though this seems familiar, the events of The Dosadi Experiment play out uniquely enough that Herbert’s style comes through yet not in a way that seems repetitive or overdone like my use of adjectives. Nevertheless, he finds in Keila Jedrik a companion who becomes far more than a soul mate. Different sensory systems might perceive the same object entirely differently.

I have to frsnk the story itself was interesting, but this same mechanic also takes the joy out of the plot twists.

Far more stunning is an experience McKie and Jedrik have when they enter the mindswap. They want a miracle! Where some are gripped and enthralled others might be frustrated by being made to work too hard. McKie and the ConSentency. The basic plot centers on McKie and Jedrik. Law must retain useful ways to break with traditional forms because nothing is more hherbert than that the forms of Law remain when all justice is gone. For me, I really liked it, and will probably re-read at tye point because there is a lot to take in and digest on a single reading.
McKie needed to teach the godlike Caleban to communicate as a human, resulting in pages looking like gibberish. Turns out there are shenanigans within shenanigans involving body swapping, ego-sex limbos, and cruel love.
The story could have taken a turn for something entirely different at vir This had the makings of a second ” Dune “, twelve years after publication of that ground-breaking book. Again, the world-building is the best part of the book; it’s such a strength with Herbert that it becomes the thing that carries the book. This is the glue that holds the far-flung ConSentiency together. I did not quite ‘get’ the concept of how it all worked. The planet is mostly poisonous, there is only one city te limited food. Another author migh The first 70 pages are hard to follow but things quickly fall into place afterwards.
The actual sabotage efforts of the Bureau are not the primary subject of herbfrt stories, however, except in “The Tactful Saboteur.
